Silver Spoon

This sterling silver spoon with monogram "AVC" was found December 10, 2016 on the [undisclosed] of Kent Island by member Scott Hoggard of the Maryland Free-State Treasure Club of Essex, Maryland, and donated to the Kent Island Heritage Society. It was made by the Gorham Manufacturing Co. and is from the "Fairfax" pattern originally introduced in 1906. The monogram most likely represents the initials of "Anne Valliant Carvel," who was married to Elbert Nostrand "Bert" Carvel in 1932. Carvel served as the 61st and 64th Governor of Delaware in the 1950s and '60s, and was a recent owner of the estate.
